Making Do, Myself in Blue Book 2.5, will be released next week!

I had set December 22 as the release date, but since it is ready to go already, I decided to update the release.Making Do will be available on December 5, 2014 in Kindle Edition. The paperback is already available here.

The pre-order Special Price remains: just 0.99 cents until December 5.

“In the blink of an eye, her eyes lost the ability to notice a blink.”

What he lacked from his parents, Simon Mackenzie always got from his older brother. All their lives Simon could count on Dylan for the love and support he needed, until he decided it was time to face his own destiny, and try to make do on his own.

Simon knows it was the right decision. He must trust that Dylan has taught him enough so he can live his life independently, no matter how difficult it might be. Society’s rules are a mystery to him, and there are times when learning is a challenge, but he makes do, even with the constant memories of their troubled childhood and the dread of their drug-addicted mother’s reappearance.

Teaching music is his way to achieve it all, to interact and reach people without fear, sharing his gift. And teaching Natalie Miller the sounds that can make her break out of her shell is especially rewarding. Through Simon’s melodies, Natalie may once again be able to see the world, even if not with her blind eyes.

Together, Simon and Natalie can both learn how to better face the world, adapt, and thrive, despite their limitations.

Making Do is book 2.5 in the Myself in Blue Series. Even though it can be read as a standalone, this novella makes several references that can be spoilers if you haven’t read the other books beforehand. Therefore, it may be better to read the books in order.

Wake Me Up Inside Pre-order available – Special Price: $0.99

Wake Me Up Inside, book 2 in the Myself in Blue Series, is a novel that tells the story of Melodie, Sunday Morning’s niece, born–with her identical twin, Althea–in the first book.

Millions of thanks to Nicole Iwasaki, who authorized me to use her picture on my cover.

I finished it today, and now it’s time to polish–edit, trim, revise. I’d planed 50K words and have now 65K, so I’ve got a lot to do before declaring it done.

It’s a love story, but also a story of trying to overcome dark paths, to find new plans to keep on living when things try to devastate you and you feel like sleeping inside. Like you need something, someone, somehow, to bring you back to life, to wake you up inside.

Both Dylan and Melodie, the main characters, are trying to keep away from hurting anymore, focusing on their futures, but once they find each other, they may have to rethink that.

This is the song that inspired the story. Remember that one?

This novel can be read as a standalone, as each book in the series, but some references to the other 2 books (Myself in Blue and Many Kinds of Unforgettable) can be spoilers if you haven’t read them before, so be aware!

The novel is already available for pre-order on amazon, and will be released on November 14. Until release day, as a special offer, it will only cost $0,99. After that, the regular price will be $ 2,99, so don’t waste any more time and pre-order it now!

Oh, and there will be another novella, telling Simon’s story–Dylan’s brother–soon. It will be called ‘Making Do’. So pay attention on Simon while reading Wake Me Up Inside. This boy has a lot to tell too. 🙂

Kindle Unlimited: The Key Questions

Kindle Unlimited: as a reader, it seems magical; as a writer…still unsure. Everybody is talking about it now, and I believe this post by David Gaughran sums it up perfectly.

David Gaughran

amazon_kindle_unlimitedAmazon launched Kindle Unlimited on Friday, giving self-publishers a big decision to make.

The long-rumored subscription service will allow users to download unlimited books for $9.99 a month, and reader reaction has been, from what I can see, overwhelmingly positive – especially because they will be able to test the service with a month’s free trial. Writers have been a little more cautious, for all sorts of reasons I’ll try and tease out below.

The main stumbling block for self-publishers is that participation in Kindle Unlimited is restricted to titles enrolled in KDP Select – Amazon’s program which offers various additional marketing tools in exchange for exclusivity. Author compensation will be similar to borrows under the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library – a percentage of money from a fixed pool. The only real twist is that payment will be triggered when 10% of downloaded books have been read.

Author -Carole Parkes

There is a little girl aged two who lives near me in Lancashire. Her name is Millie Rose Heaton and she is desperately ill with Neuroblastoma. Her family is frantically trying to raise the £250,000 needed for treatment in Germany. Millie Rose was initially given the all clear in February after twelve months of intensive chemotherapy and other vital treatments. However the cancer returned in March and there is no further treatment available in the UK for patients who are in relapse. It would be wonderful if we bloggers could help her and her family.
